Blyk Tchutchi

Blyk Tchutchi is a musician from Tarrafal, Santiago, Cabo Verde, who emigrated to Portugal in 1971 seeking a better life. He began his musical journey by attending the Alfredo Marujo music school in Alverca, Portugal, where he learned to play the viola. Blyk Tchutchi's career took off when he met musicians from São Nicolau, with whom he explored traditional Cape Verdean rhythms. His first album, "Na quel dia tão lindo," was released in 1980, followed by notable works like "Libra de Boca Mundo" (1983), "Na Paz de Deus" (1986), and "Pensa Dia de Manhã" (1987). After a hiatus, he returned to music with "O Regresso" in 2003 and continued with albums like "Quero ser romântico" (2005) and "Pe fincado na tradiçon" (2009). His music is classified as Afro-Pop, reflecting his Cape Verdean roots.

Blyk Tchutchi's journey showcases a dedication to his craft, blending traditional influences with contemporary styles. His music has been well-received, particularly among the Cape Verdean community, and he remains a significant figure in the Afro-Pop scene. Despite periods of absence from the music scene, Blyk Tchutchi has consistently returned with new material, demonstrating his enduring passion for music.
