Clément Petit is a French cellist and composer known for his eclectic and innovative approach to music, blending Afro-American, Caribbean, electronic, contemporary, and improvised styles. Raised in a diverse Parisian suburb, he continuously seeks to reinvent his instrument by developing original techniques and exploring new musical languages. His work defies genre boundaries, favoring the interaction of various styles through his highly personal sound. Petit is also active as a producer and collaborator across different projects, embracing a broad sonic palette without preconceived limits.
One of his notable recent projects is the chamber jazz trio Brunö Lapin, featuring Sophie Bernado on bassoon and voice, and Jocelyn Mienniel on flute. Their debut album, released in 2025, reflects a fusion of classical chamber music intimacy with rhythms inspired by traditional music beyond Europe. The trio's unique instrumentation creates rich, varied textures, with compositions contributed by all members, including Petit himself. Beyond this, Petit has co-produced albums blending jazz fusion and world music influences, such as with British-born artist Ala.Ni, showcasing his versatility and deep musical curiosity.
