Hedwig Bilgram

Hedwig Bilgram is a renowned German musician and educator, born on March 31, 1933, in Memmingen. She began studying piano at a young age and later pursued organ studies with Karl Richter and piano with Friedrich Wührer. Bilgram's career highlights include winning the first prize at the ARD International Music Competition in 1959. She started teaching at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich in 1961 and became a professor in 1964. Bilgram has performed extensively as a soloist and with notable musicians like Paul Meisen, Maurice André, and Jean-Pierre Rampal across Europe, North America, Japan, and Russia. She has also been a member of the Berlin Haydn Ensemble since 1990 and has premiered works by composers such as Harald Genzmer and André Jolivet.

Her recent releases reflect her deep involvement in classical music, particularly in works by Bach and Handel. These include performances of Bach's harpsichord concertos, Handel's "La Réjouissance," and Haydn's "The Creation." Bilgram's contributions to the world of classical music are marked by her mastery of both the organ and harpsichord, as well as her dedication to teaching and performing.
