SENDAIKAMOTSU (also stylized as Sendai Kamotsu) is a Japanese comedy rock duo from Sendai, formed in 2003 by childhood friends Yoshiyuki Hirai (aka Hirai) and Kazuhiko Nishimura (aka Nishimura). Known for their absurdist humor and high-energy performances, they mix slapstick comedy with catchy rock-pop tunes, often wearing matching outfits like construction worker gear or flashy suits. Their music playfully tackles everyday Japanese life, festivals, and quirky observations, with tracks like "The hottest summer in Japan" and "KAIUN ZANMAI" becoming cult favorites. Beyond music, they’ve appeared on Japanese variety shows and TV commercials, leaning into their goofball personas. The duo’s 2009 live album captures their rowdy concert vibe, proving they’ve kept their comedic rock spirit alive for nearly two decades.
