Kim Sinh

Kim Sinh is a renowned Vietnamese musician, born on April 2, 1930, in Hanoi, Vietnam. Born blind, he began exploring music at a young age by following popular groups and learning a variety of string instruments. He is celebrated for his contributions to traditional Vietnamese music, particularly in the style of Cai Luong, which has strong folk roots. Throughout his career, Kim Sinh has not only performed with numerous music groups but also taught at the Hanoi Music School, influencing many talented musicians in Vietnam. He is recognized for his skill in playing over ten traditional Vietnamese instruments, as well as the guitar and violin, adapted to Vietnamese styles.

Kim Sinh's international acclaim includes notable collaborations and performances. His music was recorded by Japanese and American companies, leading to successful tours in Japan and the United States. He has been honored with the title "Vietnam's Artist of Merit" by the Vietnamese state. Despite rumors of a collaboration with Ry Cooder, no official joint work has been released. His recent releases include contributions to collections showcasing Vietnamese music heritage.
