Marc-André Hamelin is a Canadian virtuoso pianist and composer, renowned for his consummate technique and a deep affinity for a broad range of repertoire. Born in Montreal in 1961, Hamelin began his piano studies at the age of five, and his mastery of the instrument was evident early on. He obtained a bachelor's degree from the Vincent d’Indy School of Music and later studied at Temple University under the guidance of Harvey Wedeen and Russell Sherman.
