Goldie Lookin Chain (GLC) is a Welsh comedy rap collective that burst onto the scene in the early 2000s with their tongue-in-cheek take on hip-hop culture. Hailing from Newport, the group’s satirical lyrics, DIY aesthetic, and tracks about everything from bargain supermarkets ("The Middle of Lidl") to questionable fashion choices ("Dryrobe Rap") turned them into cult favorites. Known for their absurd humor and intentionally low-budget music videos, they scored a UK Top 10 hit with "Guns Don’t Kill People, Rappers Do" in 2004 and have kept their parody flame alive with mixtapes like "The Mix Tape 6" and odes to baldness ("Bald Rap").
With members sporting fake gold chains and aliases like "Maggot" or "Eggsy," GLC’s chaotic live shows and relentless joke-rapping about British suburban life have made them a beloved anomaly. Recent releases like "Pink Wine All The Time" and "Mike Balls Boutique" prove they’re still happily stuck in their early-2000s lane – think cheeky punchlines, questionable life choices, and beats you’d hear blasting from a modified Vauxhall Nova. They’re essentially the musical equivalent of a kebab at 2 a.m.: greasy, ridiculous, and weirdly glorious.
