Founded by Mark Farner (guitar, vocals), Don Brewer (drums, vocals), and Mel Schacher (bass), the band was rounded out by Craig Frost (keyboards) in the early 70s. Grand Funk Railroad quickly gained a reputation for their raw, energetic performances and unfiltered approach to rock music.
Their early albums, like "On Time" and "E Pluribus Funk," captured the spirited dynamics of the era, defining the hard-rock sound that became synonymous with the American heartland.
