Enigma

Enigma is a groundbreaking German electronic music project founded in 1990 by Romanian-German musician and producer Michael Cretu. Known for blending new age sounds with worldbeat elements, Enigma gained international fame with its debut album *MCMXC a.D.*, featuring the hit single "Sadeness Part I," which uniquely combined Gregorian chants with modern electronic beats. The project was initially a collaboration between Cretu, David Fairstein, and Frank Peterson, with Cretu serving as the primary composer and producer. Enigma’s music is characterized by its mystical vibe and fusion of diverse genres, making it stand out in the '90s music scene.

Over the years, Enigma has released multiple albums with hits like "Return to Innocence" from their follow-up album *The Cross of Changes*. Michael Cretu's vision was to create music that fused spiritual and ethnic sounds with contemporary production, earning Enigma worldwide success including millions of album sales and numerous chart-topping singles. His former wife, Sandra, also contributed vocals to many Enigma tracks, enriching the project’s unique sound. Enigma remains an iconic and influential name in electronic and new age music.
