Henry McCullough was a gifted Northern Irish guitarist and singer best known for his work with several legendary rock acts. Born in Portstewart, Northern Ireland, McCullough rose to prominence in the late 1960s as a member of the psychedelic band The Grease Band, which famously backed Joe Cocker, including during the iconic Woodstock performance. He later became the lead guitarist for Paul McCartney's Wings, contributing to albums like Red Rose Speedway and playing the famously expressive solo on "My Love."
Beyond Wings, McCullough had a rich career that included collaborations with artists like Pink Floyd (he's the voice heard saying "I don't know, I was really drunk at the time" on The Dark Side of the Moon), and a prolific solo output that showcased his soulful blend of blues, country, and rock. His playing was known for its feel and emotion rather than flash, marking him as a true musician's musician.
