Ensemble Renaissance is a pioneering early music group from Belgrade, Serbia, formed in 1968. They are recognized as the first early music ensemble in Serbia and the second in southeastern Europe. The group specializes in the music of the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and Baroque periods, performing on historical instruments with a commitment to authentic sound. Founded by musicians including Dragan Mlađenović-Shakespeare, Miomir Ristić, and Ljubomir Dimitrijević, Ensemble Renaissance gave their first concert in 1970 and have since become renowned for their dedication to early music traditions as well as occasional ventures into modern music interpreted through ancient instruments.
Over the decades, Ensemble Renaissance has released numerous albums such as *The First 45 Years*, *Roots of the Balkan - Music and Songs From Old Serbia*, and *Journey to Jerusalem*, showcasing a rich diversity of medieval and Renaissance repertoire, including music from the Balkans and beyond.
