Los Chalchaleros were an iconic Argentine folk music group, known for their traditional Andean music and for becoming one of the foremost representatives of Argentine folk music. This legendary group originally formed in 1948 in Salta, a province in the northwest of Argentina, known for its rich cultural heritage and strong folk music traditions. The name "Los Chalchaleros" comes from a small bird native to the region known as the chalchalero.

The group's music highlighted the essence of traditional Argentine folk genres such as zamba, chacarera, vidala, and cueca, contributing significantly to the revival and popularization of these styles during their career that spanned over five decades. Their performances were characterized by impeccable vocal harmonies and the skilled use of classical guitars, bombo legüero (a large Argentine drum), and other traditional instruments. Los Chalchaleros' influence extended beyond Argentina's borders, bringing South American folklore to international audiences.
