Gnl Zamba

GNL Zamba is a Ugandan hip hop artist known for pioneering "Lugaflow"—a blend of hip hop with lyrics primarily in Luganda, one of Uganda’s native languages. Rising to fame in the late 2000s, GNL (Greatness Never Lies) made waves with songs that mixed storytelling, social commentary, and local culture with global hip hop beats. He's widely credited with helping to make hip hop a major genre in Uganda and is considered one of the country’s most influential rap artists.

Beyond just dropping chart-topping singles like "Soda Jinjale" and "Ani Yali Amanyi," GNL Zamba has also leaned into spoken word and activism, using his platform to talk about identity, heritage, and African empowerment, especially on his concept-driven album "The Spear." Now based partly in the U.S., he continues to create genre-bending music that bridges continents and generations, staying true to his roots while pushing artistic boundaries.
