Mpiri is a Faroese vocal ensemble based in Copenhagen, formed in January 1998 by a group of 16 young Faroese musicians and creatives. Known for blending contemporary commissions with classical works and traditional Faroese music, they’ve released albums like *Upp Gleðist* and collaborated with composers to create over 30 original choral pieces. The group, primarily composed of Faroese students and professionals living in Denmark, has been led by conductor Gorm Larsen since 2003 and maintains a dynamic repertoire spanning from Renaissance polyphony to modern experimental works.
Their innovative projects include setting contemporary Faroese poetry to new choral music and performing across regions like Jutland, reflecting their commitment to both cultural roots and artistic evolution.
