U-Cef

U-Cef is a Moroccan-born musician known for his eclectic blend of electronic and traditional music styles. Born in Rabat, Morocco, he spent his early years there before moving to France and later the U.S., where he explored various musical genres. Eventually settling in London, U-Cef transitioned from being a drummer to a producer, leveraging his diverse cultural background to create unique fusions of Western and Arab music. His debut album, *Halalium*, released in 1999, gained acclaim for its innovative mix of trip-hop, drum’n’bass, and traditional Maghrebi sounds. His second album, *Halalwood*, released in 2008, features collaborations with notable artists like Rachid Taha and Damon Albarn, showcasing a rich tapestry of styles from Egyptian sounds to rock and hip-hop.

U-Cef's music often reflects his experiences moving between cultures, incorporating elements of French, English, and Arabic into his work. His collaborations and remixes, such as the remix of Rachid Taha's *Ya Rayah*, have helped bridge musical borders, making his music accessible across different regions.
