Alexander Spendiarov, also spelled Spendiaryan, was a composer and conductor known for blending Armenian folk music with classical traditions. Born in 1871, he is considered one of the founding figures of Armenian classical music. A student of Rimsky-Korsakov, Spendiarov brought rich orchestration and vivid storytelling to his works. His compositions, like the symphonic suite "Crimean Sketches" and the opera "Almast," showcase his flair for melody and deep connection with Armenian cultural themes. Though he passed away in 1928, his music continues to be celebrated for its emotional depth and vibrant national character.
