Africa Tentaçao

**África Tentação** is a pioneering African music group formed in the 1970s. They were instrumental in introducing Angolan music to Portugal and Europe during the 1970s and 1980s. The group's name was coined by José Paulo during a performance in Ericeira in 1976. Their music is deeply rooted in African traditions, particularly from the region of Bailundo, Angola. Over the years, África Tentação has released several albums and cassettes, including "Ufeko n'Dalota," "Angola 79," "Angola 80," "Mulher de Angola," and "Kissange Saudade Negra." The group's compositions often reflect themes of cultural identity and nostalgia, making them a beloved part of the African diaspora community in Europe.

Some of their most notable songs include "Sofia Rosa," "Autocarro 45," "Garina," "Moreninha da Costa," and "Quando Fui a Benguela." The group's lineup has included musicians like Fernandito, Fafico, Joka, Zé Paulo, Zé Morais, Jaime Inácio, Freitas, Boto, Henrique, Mário Bernardo "Sofia," Nelo Carvalho, Nando Quental, and Toni Amaro. África Tentação's legacy extends beyond their music, as they have served as a cultural bridge for those from former colonies, fostering community and nostalgia through their performances.
