Serge Teyssot-Gay is a French guitarist and composer best known as a founding member of the influential rock band Noir Désir. With his raw, expressive playing style, Teyssot-Gay helped define the band's powerful sound through the '80s and '90s until their dissolution in the 2000s. After Noir Désir, he pursued a diverse solo career that explored experimental music, spoken word collaborations, and cross-cultural projects.
One of his standout projects is Interzone, a duo with Syrian oud player Khaled AlJaramani. Together, they fuse Middle Eastern melodies with edgy electric guitar textures, creating something both politically resonant and musically adventurous. Teyssot-Gay has always pushed boundaries, collaborating with poets like Lidia Lunch and writers such as Alain Damasio, bringing a strong literary and avant-garde sensibility to his work. Whether through his band days or his more recent explorations, he remains a passionate and fearless force in contemporary music.
