Los Iracundos are an iconic band whose musical journey spans the realms of Latin pop, rock, and ballads. Originating from Paysandú, Uruguay, in 1958, the band initially called themselves "Los Blue Kings" before adopting the name "Los Iracundos" in 1961. The lineup was comprised of Eduardo Franco (vocals and composer), his brother Leonardo Franco (lead guitar), Juan Carlos Velázquez (drums), Juan Bosco Zabalo (rhythm guitar), Jesús María Febrero (bass guitar until 1966), Hugo Burgueño (bass guitar from 1966), and later, Carlos Velázquez. They quickly rose to fame in Latin America, thanks to their melodious ballads and catchy pop tunes that resonated deeply with a wide audience.
Throughout the decades, Los Iracundos forged an enduring legacy with hit songs that became anthems for generations. Their music transcended borders, capturing the hearts of fans not only in Uruguay but also in Argentina, Mexico, and beyond. Even after the tragic loss of their lead singer, Eduardo Franco, in 1989, the band continued performing with various line-ups, preserving Franco's memory and the group's rich musical heritage. Their discography, as can be seen in compilations such as "Lo Mejor De Iracundos," "Esenciales," and retrospectives like "La Historia" and "50 Años," encapsulates the staying power and emotional depth of their work. To this day, their live albums, like "En Vivo" and its subsequent volumes, showcase the dynamic energy and raw emotion that Los Iracundos bring to the stage, perpetuating the passionate spirit that originally propelled them to stardom.
