Superpunk was a German indie rock band known for its smart, swinging sound that merged elements of pop, soul, punk, and mod culture. Founded in Hamburg in 1996, the band consisted of Carsten Friedrichs (vocals and guitar), Tim Jürgens (bass), Lars Bulnheim (guitar), and Thorsten Wegner (drums). They quickly established themselves with their sharp-witted lyrics and catchy melodies, becoming darling figures within the German music scene.

The band's oeuvre is a celebration of the Mod subculture aesthetic and indie rock sonic sensibilities, showcased in albums like "Einmal Superpunk, bitte!" and "A Young Person's Guide to Superpunk." Releases such as "Können sie das groß machen bitte?" and "A bisserl was geht immer" highlight the group’s versatility and musical evolution, while maintaining the tongue-in-cheek humor and self-reflective irony that permeated their work. Though they disbanded in 2012, Superpunk left a lasting imprint on the indie scene with their stylish tribute to the bygone era of Mods, coupled with an unmistakable modern twist.
