ColdWorld is a one-man atmospheric black metal project, conceived and brought to life by German musician Georg Börner in 2005. The musical identity of ColdWorld melds the grimness of black metal with ambient and melancholic soundscapes, often incorporating elements of doom and post-rock which create an evocative and haunting atmosphere. Thematically, ColdWorld’s work revolves around themes of loneliness, depression, and the inherent coldness of existence.
The project's landmark release was the 2008 full-length album "Melancholie²," which stamped ColdWorld's presence in the ambient black metal sphere with its chilling sound and emotional depth. ColdWorld's music is characterized by its ability to evoke somber and introspective moods, which has earned the project a dedicated following. Over the years, Börner has continued to refine and develop his sound through subsequent releases such as "Autumn" and "Interludium", showcasing his versatility and commitment to exploring the darker realms of the human psyche. With albums like "The Stars are Dead Now" and "Ruins of MMXVII," ColdWorld has continued to expand its musical horizons while staying true to the icy, despair-infused essence at the heart of the project.
