Lise Fjeldstad

Lise Fjeldstad is a celebrated Norwegian actress born on June 17, 1939, in Oslo. She graduated from the Norwegian National Academy of Theatre in 1963 and began her career at Det Norske Teatret, later joining the National Theatre in 1975. Known for powerful stage roles like Blanche Dubois in *A Streetcar Named Desire* and Agnes in Ibsen's *Brand*, she has also gained acclaim in film, winning Norway’s top film award, the Amanda, for best actress in *Dødsdansen* (1991), and the Swedish Guldbagge Award for *Little Ida*. Beyond acting, she has directed several productions, including the well-loved Christmas play *Reisen til Julestjernen* at the National Theatre. Recognized for her significant cultural contributions, she was knighted with the Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav in 1993.

Lise is the daughter of Øivin Fjeldstad, a renowned conductor and violinist, and has balanced her artistic career with family life, having two children with actor Per Sunderland. Her long and distinguished career spans theater, film, and radio drama, earning her numerous honors, including the Per Aabel Honorary Award and the Ibsen Centennial Commemoration Award. Her work continues to be influential in Norwegian arts and culture.
