Calle 13

Calle 13 is an influential and eclectic Grammy-winning Latin music group known for their provocative and eclectic musical style, which mixes alternative rap with a variety of genres from around the world, including reggaeton, rock, and folk music indigenous to Latin American cultures. Formed by stepbrothers René Pérez Joglar, known as Residente (vocalist/lyricist), and Eduardo José Cabra Martínez, known as Visitante (multi-instrumentalist/producer), in Puerto Rico in 2005, Calle 13 quickly gained fame and respect for their socially conscious lyrics and innovative approach to music. The name "Calle 13" refers to the street on which the stepbrothers lived, symbolizing their close relationship and shared creative path.

Their discography includes a number of highly acclaimed albums such as their self-titled debut "Calle 13," which brought them immediate recognition, followed by "Residente o Visitante," "Los De Atrás Vienen Conmigo," "Entren Los Que Quieran," and "MultiViral." Not only have they tackled political and social issues in their native Puerto Rico, but also they've addressed broader themes of social justice and cultural identity that resonate with an international audience. The group is known for their collaboration with a diverse array of artists, as evidenced in the album "MultiViral" which features contributions from Julian Assange, Tom Morello, and Kamilya Jubran. The band's vibrant and dynamic performances coupled with their musical experimentation and fearless commentary on pressing societal issues have cemented Calle 13's status as cultural icons and standard-bearers for creative Latin music.
