Joel Maripil

Joel Maripil is a Mapuche composer and performer from Kechokawin, a community near Puerto Domínguez on the shores of Lake Budi, Araucanía, Chile. Known as an "ülkantufe" or singer-poet, he has dedicated his life to disseminating and transmitting Mapuche Lafkenche culture through music. Maripil has worked as a researcher, compiler, and composer, and he was the manager of the Mapuche children's orchestra of Tirúa and Puerto Saavedra. His music is part of a broader effort to preserve and share Indigenous cultural heritage. Recent works include albums like "Choyün Ülkantun: Música Mapuche para Infancia," reflecting his commitment to cultural expression and education.
