Joel Maripil is a Mapuche composer and performer from Kechokawin, a community near Puerto Domínguez on the shores of Lake Budi, Araucanía, Chile. Known as an "ülkantufe" or singer-poet, he has dedicated his life to disseminating and transmitting Mapuche Lafkenche culture through music. Maripil has worked as a researcher, compiler, and composer, and he was the manager of the Mapuche children's orchestra of Tirúa and Puerto Saavedra.
