Sébastien Dubé

Sébastien Dubé, born in 1966 in Québec, Canada, is a highly skilled upright bassist known for his versatile career spanning jazz, traditional folk, and classical music. Trained at the Conservatoire du Québec, Rice University, and the University of Southern California, he has played with major North American orchestras like the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Houston Symphony before moving to Scandinavia, where he held principal bass positions in several orchestras including the Swedish Chamber Orchestra. Alongside his orchestral work, Dubé is active in jazz groups and folk collaborations, blending different musical traditions.

He is recognized not only as a performer but also as an organizer of eclectic concerts mixing classical, jazz, folk, and world music. Beyond performing, Dubé teaches at institutions such as the University of Örebro and Ingesund College of Music, and coaches the Baltic Youth Philharmonic. His recent recordings include interpretations of classical works like Bach’s Goldberg Variations, reflecting his broad musical interests and expertise.
