Emre Gültekin

Emre Gültekin is a talented musician born in Belgium, known for his mastery of the Turkish long-neck lute, or saz. He draws inspiration from the Anatolian troubadours, known as aşık, and has developed a repertoire that reflects this rich musical heritage. Emre learned much of his repertoire from his father, Lütfü Gültekin, and combines a deep, warm voice with refined saz playing techniques. His musical journey has led him to collaborate with artists from diverse backgrounds, including Armenian duduk player Vardan Hovanissian, with whom he released the critically acclaimed album "Karin," which topped the Transglobal World Music Chart in January 2019.

Emre's musical influences span a wide range of Turkish and international artists, including Talip Özkan and Mustafa Karaçeper. He has also been involved in projects that blend Armenian and Turkish musical traditions, as seen in his album "Adana." Emre's approach to music emphasizes soul, spirit, and fluidity, aiming to transcend borders and categorizations. His discography includes albums like "Lune de Jade" and "L'exil, refuge du barde," showcasing his versatility and dedication to world music.
