Quatuor Girard

Quatuor Girard is a remarkable string quartet made up of family members Hugues, Agathe, Odon, and Lucie Girard, who share a deep passion for chamber music nurtured from a very young age through family performances. Trained by the renowned Ysaÿe Quartet and further refined in Geneva, they combine a rich musical heritage with a fresh, expressive approach. Their work balances tradition with contemporary creation, as seen in their projects like Joseph Haydn’s *Sept Dernières Paroles du Christ en croix*, Alexandre Benéteau’s *Sept Paroles de la Vierge*, and Grégoire Rolland’s *Cordes tressées*, which highlights intercultural dialogue.

The Quatuor Girard is dedicated not only to high-caliber performances but also to education and community engagement. They have held residencies at prestigious institutions such as the Chapelle Royale Reine Élisabeth de Belgique and Fondation Singer-Polignac in Paris, and actively participate in democratizing classical music through outreach at schools and conservatories. Their commitment extends to organizing the Rosa Musica festival, which brings vibrant cultural life to their native Provence. Known for their clarity, emotional intensity, and versatility, Quatuor Girard is steadily gaining recognition for both their reverence for classical repertoire and involvement in innovative contemporary projects.
