Vildhjarta is a renowned Swedish metal band known for its distinctive sound within the djent subgenre, which is an offshoot of progressive metal characterized by high-gain, distorted, palm-muted, low-pitch guitar sounds. Formed in Hudiksvall in 2005, the group has forged a reputation for creating intense, atmospheric music that blends crushing riffs with hauntingly melodic passages, a style they refer to as "thall." The band consists of founding members Daniel Bergström and Jimmie Åkerström on guitars, with Calle-Magnus Thomér also on guitar, Buster Odeholm on drums, Johan Nyberg on bass, and Vilhelm Bladin on vocals, following the departure of original co-vocalists Jonatan Kärn and Robert Luciani.
Vildhjarta's progression in the metal scene is marked by critically acclaimed releases such as their debut album "Måsstaden" in 2011 and the EP "Thousands of Evils" in 2013. After an extended period of silence that left fans yearning for new material, the band made a powerful comeback with "måsstaden under vatten" in 2021, an album which also saw an instrumental version release, underscoring their complex musicianship. Their most recent offerings, including tracks like "+ kristallfågel +," "+ ylva +," and "+ den spanska känslan +," continue to solidify Vildhjarta's status as innovators and stalwarts in the heavy music realm, captivating audiences with their unrelenting sound and the evocative, almost cinematic quality of their compositions.
