Heinz Riegler

Heinz Riegler is an Austrian-born musician and artist who has built a diverse career spanning Australia and Europe. He first came into the spotlight as the lead guitarist and vocalist for the indie rock band Not from There, formed in 1991 in London with Australian musicians. The band made waves in the Australian alternative music scene in the late 1990s, especially with their 1998 ARIA Award-winning album *Sand on Seven* and the popular single "Sich Öffnen" which was featured in Triple J's Hottest 100.

After years in various groups, Riegler shifted focus to his solo work, blending experimental, electronic, and rock elements to create innovative soundscapes. His recent projects include albums recorded in unique environments, and he has been recognized with multiple ARIA Award nominations and wins, as well as international acknowledgments such as the 2011 Vienna Audio Visual Award. Riegler also curates art and architecture events like the *minus20degree* biennale, showing his broad artistic interests beyond music. He continues to split his time between Europe and Australia, maintaining a distinctive, exploratory approach to music and art.
