Belmonte & Amaraí

Belmonte & Amaraí were a prolific Brazilian sertanejo duo, known for their soul-stirring music that captured the heart of Brazil's rural essence. The partnership comprised of Paschoal Todarelli, known as Belmonte, born on November 2, 1937, in São Paulo, and his musical partner, Amaraí, born Belmiro Pereira de Almeida, on December 29, 1938, in Minas Gerais. The duo hit their stride in the 1960s and '70s, with Belmonte's distinctive high-pitched, emotive voice perfectly complemented by Amaraí's rich timbre and impeccable second voice.

Their legacy rests on a bedrock of classic hits that resonate with the themes of love, folk stories, and the hardships of rural life. Albums such as "Série Duplas do Brasil" and "Grandes Sucessos" are testaments to their cultural imprint, housing timeless tracks that have been beloved for decades. Tragically, Belmonte's life was cut short in a car accident in 1972, but the duo's music continued to be celebrated by Amaraí and by fans across the nation, as seen in the numerous collections and compilations like "20 Sucessos" that gather their most cherished songs. Their contributions to the genre of sertanejo music endure, echoing through the many voices that have been influenced by their heartfelt narratives and harmonious blend.
