Born Divided

Born Divided is a progressive melodic death metal band from Quebec City that formed in 2020 following the dissolution of their predecessor band, Blinded by Faith. The group brings together five seasoned musicians: Tommy Demers on bass, Michaël Beaudoin and Fred Bédard on guitars, Maxim Levesque on vocals, and Lucas Biron on drums. Demers and Beaudoin were founding members of Blinded by Faith, and when the band ended, Demers transitioned from vocals to bass, creating space for Levesque to step in as the new frontman. Their sound has been described as a collision between Gojira and Symphony X, with influences from Devin Townsend and Dimmu Borgir.

The band's debut album, "Impending Doom," dropped in October 2022 and featured seven tracks showcasing their signature blend of precision and intensity. Their highly anticipated sophomore album, "Chronicle of a Shipwreck," was released in October 2025 and mixed and mastered by Chris Donaldson of Cryptopsy. This latest release represents a more evolved direction for the group, balancing fast, heavy riffs with orchestral grandeur, combining brutal screams with soaring clean vocals, and exploring themes of emotional collapse, existential turmoil, and redemption. The band describes their creative journey as a shift toward raw, personal, and brutally honest songwriting compared to their earlier conceptual and fantastical storytelling.
