Conan

Conan is a British doom metal band whose sonic signature is distinguished by its cavernous riff-heavy soundscapes and thunderous percussion, harking back to the foreboding atmospheres of the genre's progenitors. Formed in Liverpool in 2006 by guitarist and vocalist Jon Davis, Conan first carved out their niche in the metal undergrowth with their grippingly heavy demo "Battle in the Swamp" and their debut EP "Horseback Battle Hammer" in 2010. They have since become synonymous with a relentless, almost primeval approach to doom, often described as 'caveman battle doom' due to the colossal weight and primal intensity of their output.

With releases like "Monnos" (2012), "Blood Eagle" (2014), and "Revengeance" (2016), the band has honed their craft, offering a relentless assault of crushing riffs and pummeling drums that seem to echo from ancient battlefields. Conan's ability to conjure palpable atmospheres of desolation and might has only been bolstered by subsequent albums such as "Existential Void Guardian" (2018) and the live recording "Live at Freak Valley" (2020), showcasing the group's commanding live presence. The thematic content of their music evokes tales of conquest and mythical lore, all delivered through a distinctly modern lens, which has granted them a dedicated following within the global metal community. "Evidence of Immortality" further cements Conan’s position in the metal pantheon, promising to expand the terrains of doom with their indomitable sound and unyielding intensity.
