Jeff Golub was an established guitarist whose versatility and energy were manifested across a bevy of genres, from jazz fusion to rock and blues. Born on April 15, 1955, in Copley, Ohio, Golub's passion for the guitar blossomed early, and his career took a serendipitous turn when he joined rocker Billy Squier's band in the 1980s. This exposure led to a burgeoning session career, where he played with a who's who of music industry giants, such as Tina Turner, Peter Wolf, and John Waite. In the late 1980s, he formed the band Avenue Blue, beginning his foray into the world of jazz.
Jeff Golub's career as a solo artist took flight with his early releases "Unspoken Words" and "Avenue Blue," after which his sound matured and deepened with acclaimed albums like "Grand Central" and "Soul Sessions." His works showcase a seamless blend of smooth jazz, R&B, and blues signatures, with "Train Keeps A Rolling" (2013) being one of his final major contributions. Not even Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, a rare neurological disease that claimed his eyesight in 2011, could halt his musical journey entirely. Golub continued to perform until his untimely passing on January 1, 2015. Despite challenges, Jeff Golub's legacy is that of a spirited musician whose guitar spoke with clarity, soul, and indomitable spirit through the language of music.
