Arthur Ancelle

Arthur Ancelle is a French pianist known for his musical intelligence, commitment, and non-conformist approach to interpretation. He began playing piano at three and studied harmony from the age of seven, later earning degrees in chamber music and music pedagogy as well as an Artist Diploma from the École Normale de Musique de Paris. Ancelle has won numerous international prizes, allowing him to perform in prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, and the Moscow Philharmonic Hall. His recordings are distinguished by deep research and fresh interpretations, especially in Chopin’s repertoire, where he seeks to refresh traditional expressive clichés.

He is also widely recognized for his piano duo with Russian pianist Ludmila Berlinskaya, his wife and former teacher. Together, they perform original and arranged works for two pianos and four hands, frequently appearing at top venues and festivals worldwide. Their duo has released multiple acclaimed albums and they are active as artistic directors of piano festivals as well as educators at the École Normale de Musique de Paris, where they lead a class dedicated to piano duos.
