Lorenzo Perosi (1872–1956) was an Italian composer and Catholic priest, best known for his sacred choral music. A key figure in the Cecilian Movement, which sought to revive and reform church music, Perosi composed numerous masses, oratorios, and motets that combined traditional polyphony with rich Romantic harmonies. He served as the director of the Sistine Chapel Choir at the Vatican and was highly respected in his time, even influencing composers like Puccini. Despite facing health issues later in life, his prolific output left a lasting impact on liturgical music, securing his place as one of Italy’s most significant sacred music composers.
