The Silverbeets

The Silverbeets are an indie rock band from Hobart, Tasmania, formed in 2014. They are known for crafting a unique sound that draws inspiration from various rock influences while maintaining a distinct, non-formulaic style. Their music often explores universal themes such as love, hate, fear, addiction, and environmental and political issues. The band has released several notable works, including the EP "Purple Stems," a cover of Simon & Garfunkel's "We've Got a Groovy Thing Goin'," the full-length album "Stay Tuned," the single "I've Got to Get Away (on an Hawaiian Holiday)," and another album titled "Halcyon Days." More recently, they have released tracks like "Mr Brown Goes To The Cabaret" and "Smell the Roses."

The band's name is inspired by the diverse color varieties of silverbeet or Swiss chard, reflecting the diverse nature of their music. Each member brings a different background to the table, contributing to the band's eclectic sound. For example, Ernie O, the producer, has a background in progressive rock and classical music, while Bill O'Brien, the drummer, comes from a musical family and has a keen ear for quality musicianship. The Silverbeets are part of the thriving music scene in Hobart, Australia, and have established a niche for themselves within the indie rock genre.
