OCEANLANE

OCEANLANE was a Tokyo-based rock band formed in 2001 by childhood friends Hajime Takei and Kay Naoe, who initially played local shows with temporary rhythm sections before solidifying their lineup with bassist Takeshi Horikoshi and drummer Masashi "Marcy" Shimada. After self-releasing their 2003 demo EP, they signed with Handicraft Recordings and dropped their breakthrough debut *On My Way back home*, which topped Japan’s indie charts, followed by 2005’s Pelle Gunnerfeldt-produced *Kiss&Kill*. They gained traction touring nationally and supporting acts like Jimmy Eat World and Copeland, while appearing on the 2004 Vans Warped Tour’s winter leg. Their discography includes albums like *Castle In The Air* (2007) and *Urban Sonnet* (2010), showcasing their blend of earnest rock anthems and melodic hooks.
