The Orquesta Sinfónica de la Región de Murcia (OSRM) is a well-established classical orchestra based in Murcia, Spain. Founded in 1996, it has become the region’s premier symphonic ensemble, performing regularly at the Auditorio Víctor Villegas de Murcia. The orchestra is publicly funded and managed by the Fundación Orquesta Sinfónica de la Región de Murcia, which was established in 2002 to oversee its operations. The OSRM consists of around 49 professional musicians, mostly trained in local conservatories, selected through public competitions. It regularly offers concert seasons in Murcia and Cartagena, delivering a diverse repertoire that ranges from traditional symphonic works to contemporary Spanish compositions.
With a strong commitment to promoting both classical and modern orchestral music, the orchestra has recorded and performed a variety of works including those by contemporary Spanish composers. Notably, it participates in cultural initiatives and benefits that support music education and heritage in the region. The OSRM has been part of the Spanish Association of Symphony Orchestras since 2002 and continues to be a cultural pillar in southeastern Spain, providing a platform for local musicians and enriching the regional music scene.
