TM404 is the acid techno project of Swedish electronic music producer Andreas Tilliander. Known for his innovative use of classic Roland gear, particularly the x0x series, Tilliander creates hypnotic, evolving soundscapes under this moniker. His self-titled debut album as TM404 in 2013 was built entirely using Roland drum machines and synthesizers, showcasing his mastery of these iconic instruments.
Tilliander's approach as TM404 often involves using multiple 303 bass synthesizers simultaneously, creating complex, layered acid sounds. His music has been described as "somnolent acid" and "Detroit techno without the techno," blending elements of dub, ambient, and experimental electronic music. In addition to his studio work, Tilliander is known for his captivating live performances as TM404, where he manipulates his array of analog gear in real-time.
