The Reddmen were a garage rock and power-pop band from Rapid City, South Dakota, formed in 1996 by brothers J. Waylon Porcupine and Miyo One Arrow, members of the Northern Cheyenne and Lakota tribes. Despite never being formally signed to a record label, they achieved a level of mainstream success. Notably, one of their songs was featured on the popular TV show "Grey's Anatomy," which significantly boosted their visibility. The band was known for its DIY ethos, handling everything from music production to merchandise creation on their own. They toured extensively and maintained a strong presence in the music scene before taking an 11-year hiatus. The Reddmen's sound captured the hearts of fans across South Dakota and beyond, making them a beloved part of the region's music history.
The band's music career spanned several albums and demos, with notable releases including "Unlisted Numbers (Demos 1999-2009)" and "More Superstitious Surefire Tricks 2006-2010." After the hiatus, there was a short reunion in 2022, during which they prepared to tour again. J. Waylon Miller, a key figure in The Reddmen, went on to form another band called Friends of Cesar Romero after his time with The Reddmen ended in 2011.
