Alabama Shakes

Alabama Shakes is an American rock band formed in Athens, Alabama, in 2009. The group consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Brittany Howard, guitarist Heath Fogg, bassist Zac Cockrell, and drummer Steve Johnson. The band's soul-infused brand of blues-rock gained them widespread recognition in the early 2010s, with their 2012 debut album "Boys & Girls" earning critical acclaim and commercial success. The lead single, "Hold On," was a breakout hit that showcased Howard's powerful vocals and the band's gritty, emotionally resonant sound.

Following up on their debut, Alabama Shakes released their sophomore album, "Sound & Color," in 2015, further cementing their status as one of the most exciting and innovative acts in contemporary music. The album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart and won multiple Grammy Awards, including Best Alternative Music Album, showcasing the band's evolution towards a more diverse and experimental sound while still rooting their music in the deep traditions of Southern soul and blues. Although they have not released any new albums since "Sound & Color," the band's energetic live performances and their work on various projects, such as contributing to the soundtrack of "The American Epic Sessions," keep their spirit and music alive for fans around the world.
