Ataúlfo Argenta

Ataúlfo Argenta was a Spanish conductor born in Castro Urdiales, Cantabria, in 1913. He studied music at the Madrid Conservatory and made his conducting debut in 1941. Argenta quickly gained recognition for his passionate and expressive interpretations, and he soon became one of the most sought-after conductors in Spain. He was particularly known for his performances of Spanish music, and he helped to popularize the works of composers such as Manuel de Falla and Joaquín Rodrigo. Argenta died tragically in a car accident in 1958, at the age of 45.
