Mike Miz

Mike Miz, whose full name is Michael Mizwinski, is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist originally from the Wyoming Valley of Northeast Pennsylvania. He was raised in a musically rich environment, with a guitarist father who taught him his first chords at age 7 and a mother who exposed him to artists like Doc Watson and Bonnie Raitt. His early musical experiences included attending concerts by the Allman Brothers and Grateful Dead, which shaped his style. By his mid-teens, Mike was already performing original music at local festivals and bars, eventually joining the fusion band Gongzilla and opening for well-known acts. In 2010, he started his own project, MiZ, blending Americana, rock, jam band vibes, and vintage songwriting. His debut album, *East Hope Avenue*, included special guests and earned regional acclaim with songs featured in the TV series *Sons of Anarchy*.

Mike Miz has earned a reputation for soulful, high-energy live performances, touring heavily with over 200 shows annually. After relocating to Nashville in 2019 to focus on songwriting and guitar craft, he released *Only Human* in 2023, an autobiographical album that explores his struggles and redemption, earning praise from outlets like Rolling Stone and Relix. His 2021 single "Virginia" was described as “a monster of a jam rocker” by Rolling Stone. He has opened for prominent artists such as Jason Isbell, Jakob Dylan, and Derek Trucks. His recent releases include the 2025 album *Sometimes by Surprise*, continuing his blend of heartfelt songwriting and dynamic musicianship. Mike Miz’s music is known for its emotive storytelling, virtuosic guitar work, and a blend of Americana and rock influences.
