Ricardo Herz

Ricardo Herz is a renowned Brazilian violinist, composer, and arranger known for his unique blend of traditional Brazilian music with jazz improvisation and contemporary composition. Born in 1978, Herz began his musical journey at the age of six at the Fukuda School in São Paulo and later graduated in classical violin from the University of São Paulo. He further honed his skills at the Berklee College of Music in the U.S. and the Centre des Musiques Didier Lockwood in France, where he was influenced by the legendary French jazz violinist Didier Lockwood. Herz's style is deeply rooted in Brazilian folk traditions, drawing inspiration from artists like Dominguinhos, Luiz Gonzaga, and Egberto Gismonti.

Herz has collaborated with many prominent Brazilian musicians, including Yamandú Costa and Nelson Ayres, and has performed with various orchestras such as the Orquestra Jazz Sinfônica and Orquestra Sinfônica de João Pessoa. His discography includes albums like "Aqui É o Meu Lá," "Torcendo a Terra," and a duo album with Yamandú Costa. Additionally, Herz is dedicated to teaching and promoting Brazilian violin, offering an online "Brazilian Popular Violin Course".
