Alexey Kozlov

Alexey Kozlov is a legendary Russian saxophonist who emerged as one of the pioneering jazz musicians in the Soviet Union during the 1960s. Born in Moscow on October 13, 1935, Kozlov grew up during the challenging Stalin era and taught himself to play jazz despite official restrictions. In the early 1970s, he founded the band Arsenal, which became one of the most popular jazz-rock fusion groups in the Soviet Union. Kozlov has been a significant figure in Russian jazz for decades, continuing to perform weekly gigs well into the 2010s and 2020s despite his age.
