Mae

Mae is an American rock band that hails from Norfolk, Virginia. Formed in 2001, the band’s name is an acronym for "Multisensory Aesthetic Experience," which also serves as the title for their 2018 album, encapsulating their artistic approach. The group is known for their emotive blend of alternative rock, emo, and pop, with a bent towards philosophical and conceptual undertakings. Mae gained mainstream recognition with the release of their second album "The Everglow" in 2005, a record that further solidified their unique sound and showcased their narrative strength, becoming a benchmark in their discography.

Throughout their career, the band's lineup has included several configurations around core members Dave Elkins (vocals, guitar) and Jacob Marshall (drums). Mae has a history of engaging with their fans through conceptually rich albums and innovative multimedia experiences. Their works such as "Singularity" (2007) and the EP series "(m)orning", "(a)fternoon", and "(e)vening" reflect a constant evolution in their sound and a willingness to explore different musical directions. Despite going on hiatus in 2010, Mae has reunited for various tours, and following a successful Kickstarter campaign, they returned to the studio for the self-referential "Multisensory Aesthetic Experience". Their music is also characterized by a philanthropic edge, with projects aimed at raising funds for humanitarian causes. Mae continues to enchant audiences with their distinctive cinematic songs, embedding their music within the larger fabric of experiential art.
