Praashekh Borkar is a talented young sarod player from India, recognized for his mastery in Indian classical music. Born into a musical family, he began his journey with the sarod at a very early age. His father, Pandit Shekhar Borkar, a renowned musician, taught him the 'tarankaar baaz' playing style, which blends elements of the Maihar gharana with khayal vocal techniques. Praashekh's musical career took off with his first public performance at the age of 10, followed by numerous awards, including a National Talent Scholarship and the Dattopant Deshpande trophy at the Sawai Gandharva festival. He has also experimented with world music, collaborating with musicians from diverse backgrounds, and has invented the electric sarod, or esarod, to further explore his musical versatility.
Praashekh has released several albums, including "Utkarsh," and has performed globally, showcasing his unique blend of traditional and modern musical styles. His work includes composing music for ballets and TV shows, and he has been honored with the title of 'Surmani' by Sur-Singar Samsad, Mumbai. Through his performances, Praashekh continues to innovate and push the boundaries of the sarod, blending Eastern and Western musical elements.
