Death From Above 1979

Death From Above 1979, often abbreviated as DFA1979, is a Canadian rock duo comprising bassist Jesse F. Keeler and drummer/vocalist Sebastien Grainger. The band was formed in Toronto, Ontario in 2001, and quickly made a name for themselves with their potent blend of punk rock, heavy metal, and dance-punk elements. Their sound is distinguished by the absence of a traditional lead guitar, with Keeler's distorted bass taking the forefront, and Grainger's fierce drumming and passionate vocals rounding out their sonic footprint.

The duo first gained major attention with the release of their debut album "You're a Woman, I'm a Machine" in 2004. After a hiatus between 2006 and 2011, during which time both members pursued other projects, Death From Above 1979 reunited, releasing their second album, "The Physical World" in 2014. Subsequent albums such as "Outrage! Is Now" in 2017 and "Is 4 Lovers" in 2021 have solidified their status as a force in alternative and dance-punk music. Their energetic and raw live performances have earned a dedicated fan base and critical acclaim, signifying the duo's lasting impact on the rock music scene.
