Gérard De Nerval

Gérard De Nerval, born Gérard Labrunie, was a French poet, writer, and translator who lived from 1808 to 1855. He is best known for his haunting and evocative poetry, which often explored themes of love, loss, and the supernatural. Nerval's work was influenced by the Romantic movement, and he is considered one of the most important figures in French literature.

Nerval's life was marked by both brilliance and tragedy. He was a gifted writer, but he also struggled with mental illness and addiction. In 1855, he was found hanged in a Paris street. Despite his untimely death, Nerval's work continues to be celebrated for its beauty and originality.
