Samara Alofa is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, producer, and composer based in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland), Aotearoa, with Ngāti Awa, Samoan, Tongan, and Māori heritage that deeply influences their sonic worlds. Starting in their early 20s around 2016-17 with iPhone voice loop experiments shared on SoundCloud, they dove into noise artist communities, theatre scoring, and film studies before dropping out to release their debut EP *Earth Punk!* in 2020—a bold blend of elements inspired by artists like Ibeyi and Tirzah, capturing that "Earth Punk" vibe of rebellion and roots.
They kept the momentum with singles like **B.T.T.G** in 2021 and collabs like "Void" with PollyHill, leading to their critically acclaimed 2023 joint album **AQUARIES**—a queer, genre-fluid trip through minimal electronica, moody R&B, and trip-hop hailed as "the sound of the Auckland night" by Rolling Stone. Recent drops include the remix album **AQUARIES: AGE OF URANUS** in 2025, featuring tracks like **HOME (MOKOTRON REMIX)** and **QUEERBAIT (CARU REMIX)**, plus standouts like **Alien Sex** and **Earth Punk**. As a queer multidisciplinary icon, Samara crafts "sonic rebellion, cosmic healing, and queer joy" across music, theatre, and film.
